If you've been following my podcast, you might remember that I love to highlight local charities and good works, way back in May 2023 we had a conversation with Elena from Nickel Support. We talked about their incredible work supporting adults with learning disabilities, and Elena hinted at some exciting projects on the horizon. Well, the wait is over, and I’m thrilled to share that Nickel Support has just opened a brand new coffee shop, Beans and Bloom, at the historic Whitehall Museum in Cheam.
What’s Beans and Bloom All About?
Beans and Bloom isn’t just another coffee shop; it’s a vibrant community space where everyone is welcome. It’s the kind of place that not only serves delicious, freshly-prepared food and beverages but also carries a heartwarming mission. The cakes on the menu are baked by adults with learning disabilities who are part of the Nickel Support family, and the coffee and tea come from other socially-conscious enterprises. It’s all about community, inclusivity, and quality.
The coffee shop, which officially opened to the public on August 28th, is the result of a close working relationship between Nickel Support and Sutton Council, and generous funding from the Bloomfield Trust. This has brought this vision to life, creating a space that’s sure to become a go-to spot for both locals and visitors alike.
Why You Should Check It Out
While I haven’t had the chance to visit Beans and Bloom just yet, it’s definitely on my list, and I’ll be sure to share my thoughts when I do. From everything I’ve heard, this place is set to be fantastic — a perfect blend of history, culture, and community spirit. Plus, it’s a great way to support a cause that’s making a real difference in people’s lives.
So, next time you’re in Cheam, why not pop into the Whitehall Museum and grab a coffee at Beans and Bloom? Enjoy the atmosphere, the history, and maybe a slice of cake baked with love.
